Last trail run of 2013

We drove back, 13+ hours, on Saturday so I wasn't sure after sitting in the car that long whether I would feel like running with Kim's team on Sunday night but the plan was to run the forest road loop in Placitas and I LOVE Placitas.

I knew the extra food and drink in the so recently passed days would weigh me down but what better way to get rid of them than a 6 or 7 mile run in the hills. There were probably close to 20 runners of different ages and speeds. I'm always glad to see that so that maybe I can fit in somewhere in the pack without being last.

Sure enough the eating and drinking hurt that day. I have run that route twice before, once without any walking, so I was glad to have that to blame the walking on today. I was close to the end going up the long hill but once I finally caught up to Kim we ran together most of the rest of the way. That was very good for me because we talked about ultras, races all over this part of the country, race fueling and hydrating,

During all this time to talk, I was glad to know that she likes to talk while she runs like I do, I told Kim I was not planning to run the Cedro Peak race so I would volunteer for the event. I think this will be a cool side of trail racing to experience. I hope to help with more in the future to learn even more about race directing, event planning. Logistics is my thing!
